Certification: Fair Trade, People and Planet First, Women Owned

Belart creates sustainable livelihoods and fair wages for rural artisans and women’s cooperatives in Colombia and Vietnam, including communities rebuilding their lives after displacement. Women make about 80 percent of its jewelry.

This Vermont-based, women-owned family business makes handmade jewelry from plant-based and upcycled materials. These include tagua nut, hand-woven iraca palm, pressed wildflowers in pine-bark eco-resin, and cruelty-free up-cycled horn.

Your Impact

For more than 25 years, Belart has partnered directly with small family workshops and artisan collectives. Its work supports fair living wages, literacy, and community development. Founder Tulianna, who grew up in Colombia, leads the company alongside her daughter and business partner, Alex. Belart is a Fair Trade Federation member, a verified People and Planet First fair trade enterprise, and a Green America Certified Business. The company chooses its materials with the planet in mind. Tagua comes from naturally fallen palm seeds and serves as a botanical alternative to ivory. The eco-resin comes from pine bark instead of petroleum, and Belart sources its horn without killing the animals. Artisans make each piece by hand, preserving traditional craft techniques.
